Do ice hockey goalie pads work when playing roller hockey on a synthetic surface?
May 29, 2009 by DJ Wuss | Posted in Hockey
I have rather old-ish Louisville's, and I was wondering if I would be wasting my time trying wear them while playing roller hockey on these new synthetic "ice" sheets. Do they slide at all? Wear down? Tear???
I'm mostly just
I would get a pair designed for roller, they're lighter and sometimes even have coolmax, unless playing in elite level tournaments you don't need that much protection since the puck /ball used office is considerably lighter than a ice one I have played

Gophers women's hockey defeats top-ranked Wisconsin 7-5
06.11.10
Senior Emily West scored two goals in her return to the line up as the Gophers defeated top-ranked Wisconsin 7-5 Friday night.
Cleared by team doctors to play late this week, West tallied two goals and an assist while jump-starting the Gophers’ offense to its highest single-game goal total of the season.
Wisconsin (8-1-0, 6-1-0 in the WCHA) held the Gophers (6-4-0, 3-4 in the WCHA) to 22 shots on goal, but the Gophers made the most of their opportunities, scoring on almost one third of their shots on net.
Junior Sarah Erickson and freshman Kelly Terry each added three points as eleven Gophers, including goalie Noora Raty, contributed a point.

Colorado Eagles travel to Ohio to play Dayton Gems
06.11.10
Kyle Jones started in net for the Colorado Eagles for their first faceoff with the Dayton Gems in Dayton, Ohio.
Rookie Matt Glasser received a penalty shot in the first period thanks to some aggression from Brett Lutes, former Eagles player. Unfortunately, the backhand threw the puck back and tried to get over the pads to no avail, Jeff Jakaitis made a great save, which kept Glasser from getting his first professional goal with the Central Hockey League . Lutes received a two minute penalty for tripping.
The Gems took advantage of two power plays to get some much needed shots on goal. They had 15 in the first period, which was a new high for the team.
A small squirmish broke out toward the end of the first period when Chris Hau tried to get Brett Lutes into a little sparring match, but as we all know, Lutes is not the fighting type. The Eagles ended up getting a last minute cross checking penalty sending the Gems to the locker room on a bit of a high note although both teams were scoreless.

M. HOCKEY | Bulldogs hang on to beat Princeton
06.11.10
It wasn’t seven goals, but it was enough.
Yale (3-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC) survived six penalties and more than two minutes of three on five hockey in the last six minutes of the third period and hung on to defeat Princeton (0-0-3, 0-0-1) at Ingalls Rink, 5–3 on Friday night.
“Princeton is a team that works hard, plays fast, plays physical, and makes you fight for the puck at both nets,” head coach Keith Allain ’80 said. “As a coach, you can’t help but be proud that we gutted it out.”
The first period was full of fireworks. The Bulldogs struck first on a Chad Ziegler ’12 power play goal at 2:45 into the frame.
Right winger Chris Cahill '11 widened the Eli advantage thanks to a perfect cross-ice feed from center Andrew Miller ’13 a minute and a half later, but Princeton stormed right back. Center Andrew Calof — who had both of Princeton’s goals in its first two games — missed the net after beating Yale goalie Ryan Rondeau ’11 with a toe drag, but followed his shots to the back boards and got a lucky break when his ensuing pass banked off Rondeau’s skates and into the net.

Goalies must put on arm and chest protectors. These protectors besides protecting the arms and chest from injuries, they also protect the ribs, lungs, and heart from fractures or serious injury when hit by a puck. Hockey pucks flying speeds at the goal can average from seventy to ninety miles per hour. The arm and chest protectors are usually made with foam padding with nylon binding. Arm pads often have a mesh outer shell with padded shoulders and caps at the elbows for safety reinforcement.

&Ldquo;I wouldn’t say that it’s (better),” Van Hellemond said when asked about today’s NHL product compared to the game in the 1970s and ’80s. “We had a lot of goals scored in our time. They changed the game to get more goals and (yet) we have these 1-0 and 2-0 and 2-1 games…and if they don’t change the goalie equipment, the game will always be like this.” “The excuse of too much hooking and too much holding, that doesn’t wash anymore,”...

Questions about choosing/buying Glove + Blocker - Goalie Store ...
by Ricketts
I found a site that has a TPS Summit 3 Glove for $100 and Blocker for $80. These are both half price and they look nice, but it seems like this model is a couple years old and I can't find much information or any reviews on them to tell if they are any good. When I search, all I find is stuff for Summit 5 or 7, which I am guessing are similar, just higher models, and I don't know what the actual difference is. If anyone knows anything about this Summit 3 glove/blocker, I would appreciate their help....
a switch that stuck as she moved through the youth ranks of the Appleton Area Hockey Association. "What appealed to me about playing goalie was that I got to be on the ice the whole game, and I thought the goaliepads were kind of cool.
Syracuse, NY— AP Ray Emery leaned forward on the locker room bench, began removing his goaltender pads, and breathed a satisfied sigh of relief. After more than a year of doubts about his health, he was back between the pipes.
Ellie Bullit's shot deflected off the pads of Wilton goalie Emily Tucker, but the opportunistic Shaker gathered the puck in front of the net and beat Tucker top shelf, making it a 2-0 game with 46 seconds remaining in the first period.
